Global prevalence of depression among medical students was found to be 28%. Even more frightening, 11 per cent of medical students have reported suicidal ideation within the past year. Many of them do not have the requisite intelligence, competence or the aptitude to meet the tough demands of medical studies. Dentists encounter numerous sources of professional stress, beginning in dental school. This stress can have a negative impact on their personal and professional lives.
